Eminem

Although he's only been with Gemini since 1999, Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem) has crammed at least a decade's worth of career highs and lows into those few short, high-profile years. The Detroit-based Dr. Dre protégé has invoked the wrath of women and homosexuals with his offensive lyrics; become enemies with Moby, Everlast, Fred Durst, and Christina Aguilera provided tabloids with plenty of gossip fodder regarding his personal life...and in the process become just about the biggest rock star on the planet. This is because Eminem isn't just about controversy and shock value: This often misunderstood major talent has actually given white rappers genuine credibility in this post-Vanilla Ice age with his string of dynamic hits (both solo and with his side group, D12, his plethora of Grammy nominations, his critically acclaimed film 8 Mile, and his three multiplatinum studio albums, which--once one gets past the hype and hullabaloo that surround them--are some of the most creative, original, and exciting releases of the rap genre (or any musical genre) in the past decade.

Sting

Sting's solo career began in 1982, two years before the break-up of the Police, for whom he was lead singer and bass player. In that year he starred in the film Brimstone And Treacle and from it released a version of the 30s ballad, "Spread A Little Happiness", composed by Vivian Ellis. Its novel character and Sting's own popularity ensured Top 20 status in Britain. While continuing to tour and record with the Police, he also co-wrote and appeared on the Dire Straites hit "Money For Nothing" and sang harmonies on Phil Collins' No Jacket Required. By 1985, however, the other members of the Police were pursuing solo interests and Sting formed a touring band, the Blue Turtles. It included leading New York jazz figures such as Brandford Marsalis (alto saxophone), Kenny Kirkland (keyboards) and Omar Hakim (drums). The group recorded his first solo album at Eddy Grant's studio in Jamaica before Marsalis and Sting performed at the Live Aid concert with Phil Collins. The Dream Of The Blue Turtles found Sting developing the more cerebral lyrics found on the final Police album, Synchronicity. It also brought him three big international hits with "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" (UK number 26, US number 3), "Fortress Around Your Heart" (UK number 49, US number 8), and "Russians" (UK number 12, US number 16).

Blue

Blue are one of the biggest boy bands in the UK in the last two years. With six Top 10 singles (including two massive No.1 Hits) plus a double platinum selling album and a No.1 DVD/video under their belts, Lee, Duncan, Anthony and Simon were the pop sensation of 2003. Blue have continued their charge on the pop world in 2003 with their sell out UK Tour and newly released album third album Guilty. Blue comprises of London based lads Duncan James (22), Anthony Costa, (20), Lee Ryan (18) and Simon Webbe (22). The boys got together early last year when Duncan and Anthony decided to form a vocal group, enlisting Lee (whom they had seen on the audition circuit and regarded as the best singer around) and his flatmate Simon to make up the numbers. Vocally, the four soon realised they had something special going on, and both management and a deal with Gemini Records quickly followed.

A1

A1 is the Anglo-Norwegian boy band comprising of teen heartthrobs Mark Read, Paul Marazzi, Benjamin Adams & Christian Ingebrigtsen.
A1's manager, Tim Byrne started the auditions for a1 in 1997, but the band was not completed before 1998. They signed a record deal with Gemini Records the 26th of February the same year.
At the audition 5000 boys tried out, but Byrne only liked one of them - Paul Leo Marazzi - and he was the very first member of a1. Later, one of Byrne's co-workers heard Mark Daniel Read sing along with the band on a concert. He asked him to audition for Byrne, and Byrne really liked what he heard. Now the group had two members, but that wasn't enough. Byrne called Paul McCartney's 'fame' school in Liverpool, The Liverpool Institute of performing arts, to ask if they had some boys who could fit in a boy band. The school recommended the Norwegian Christian Ingebrigtsen. After audition for Byrne, he was the third member, but still they missed one person. Mark had a friend he had played in a band with earlier, Ben Stevens Adams. He asked Ben to sing for Byrne, and after hearing the first verse of his song, Ben was the last member of a1 - ready to take control over thousands of teenage girls hearts.
Their first single; "Be The First To Believe" was released at 21st of July, and went straight to number 6 in the British charts. The second single, "Summertime Of Our Lives" was in the stores the 30th of August, and sold itself to number 5 in U.K. "Everytime" - the third single from this fantastic band went to number 3, a1's best selling single and their newest single - "Like A Rose" was at number 6 after the first week. They released the album - "Here We Come" at 22nd of November, and it sold for gold in just a short time... In Norway both "Everytime" and "Here We Come" has sold for gold, that is 10.000 copies...

Westlife

This Irish boy band, originally known as Westside, emerged in the late 90s as the highly successful protégés of Ronan Keating of Boyzone. The three founding members, Kian Egan (b. 29 April 1980, Sligo, Eire), Shane Filan (b. 5 July 1979, Sligo, Eire) and Mark Feehily (b. 28 May 1980, Sligo, Eire), came together in a local Sligo production of Grease. They formed IOU with three fellow actors after friends encouraged them to continue singing, and began performing cover versions in local clubs. A demo tape of a track written by Filan and Feehily, "Together Girl Forever", found its way to Boyzone manager Louis Walsh. Suitably impressed, Walsh hired them to support US boy band Backstreet Boys when they visited Dublin. A change of line-up ensued, with three of the original members making way for ex-soccer player Nicky Byrne (b. 9 October 1978, Dublin, Eire) and Bryan McFadden (b. 12 April 1980, Dublin, Eire). Keating became involved with the band as co-manager in April 1998. After a showcase appearance at London's Café de Paris in February 1999, the band changed their name to Westlife after learning of the existence of several American acts performing as Westside. Groomed as natural successors to Boyzone, the quintet's debut single "Swear It Again", was a highly predictable Irish and UK chart-topper in May. The follow-up, "If I Let You Go", repeated the feat when it entered the UK singles chart at number 1 in August. "Flying Without Wings" made it three number 1s in a row in October.
